Numerous Participate in Pro-Palestine Rallies as Organizers Promise to Continue Demonstrating

Numerous individuals gathered throughout the country at rallies supporting Palestine, with coordinators pledging to keep demonstrating after a truce agreement facilitated by the American leader in Gaza showed early signs of stability.

Sydney March Gathers Substantial Attendance

In Sydney, the Palestine Action Group said a crowd of 30,000 had protested from Hyde Park to a nearby green space in the central business district after a scheduled protest to the Opera House was prohibited by the New South Wales court of appeal recently.

NSW police assessed a crowd of 8,000 joined the local rally, with a spokesperson reporting there had been "minimal disturbances".

Nationwide Demonstrations Mark Anniversary

Protests were also held in Victoria's capital, eastern city and Western Australian city on the weekend to mark 24 months of conflict after militant actions on the date in 2023 killed about 1,200 people in Israel.

"In terms of the movement, we'll absolutely continue to protest for a free Palestine... for local governance, for aid to be allowed in and for locals to reconstruct their homes," said an activist.

Mixed Reactions to Ceasefire Agreement

Various participants voiced optimism that the ceasefire would lead to lasting peace. Some were doubtful of Trump's involvement and encouraged participants to keep pressuring the Australian government to apply measures and end the trade in military goods.

Shamikh Badra, a local with Palestinian heritage based in Australia, said he hoped the deal might enable him to reunite with his aging parent, who is remaining in the territory without access to medical care, to his current home, and to find and bury his family members, who have been unaccounted for since that year.

Local Jewish Population Organizes Memorial

Meanwhile, many individuals attended a Jewish community commemoration on Sunday night in Sydney's eastern suburbs to remember the occasion of the October attacks. Geoffrey Majzner, the family member of someone affected, an Australian citizen who was a casualty of the events, was scheduled to speak.

There were hopes for soon return of the captives still held in the region and the victims of the attacks. The Israeli ambassador, the diplomat, honored the determination of those affected. The crowd booed when he mentioned the Australian prime minister and the foreign minister.

Boat Activists Share Experiences

The city's demonstration earlier featured addresses including multiple nationals released from Israeli detention after the stopping of the protest boats this month.

A participant, his arm in a sling after it was reportedly injured in an Israeli prison, told that limited details were clear about the truce arrangement. Global humanitarian groups, including humanitarian bodies, were organizing to reach the region.

"As long as there is a situation where there's a severe and prohibited barrier on the region," commented the participant, flotilla activists would persist in attempting to transport assistance via water.

Abubakir Rafiq, who came back to the city on Friday, gave an moving testimony recounting his imprisonment with 83 other men in a detention facility.

Leadership Remarks

The NSW Greens MP the politician addressed participants: "We cannot let a world where Trump determines the future of the Palestinian people to be the type of reality we accept."

A different coordinator who made the first proposal to demonstrate at the famous location asserted that the participants could have peacefully gone to the famous harbourside venue. The law enforcement official had previously stated the court of appeal that the arrangement appeared dangerous.

The coordinator commented during the protest: "Every single time the law enforcement seeks to prevent our demonstrations or court proceedings, it raises public awareness... to the importance of gathering and resist these measures."
