19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his first championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from March of that year.

The win also indicates he has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to push for a third set.

Moutet saved 4 early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
